Here’s how.
At our practice, the only takes one appointment. This means that you can restore your tooth with minimal disruption to your life.
First, we’ll file down the tooth that will receive the dental crown. That way, there will be enough room for the crown to sit on top of your tooth without it looking unnatural.
Next, we’ll take 3D digital impressions of your teeth using a small hand-held scanner. Our dentist will then immediately view these impressions on his computer and begin designing your new crown right in front of your eyes.
Once Dr. Blevins is satisfied with how the dental crown looks, he’ll send the design to the milling unit in our office. The milling unit is responsible for carving out your new crown from a block of ceramic. These ceramic blocks come in different shades so we can select the best color-match for your smile.
As soon as your ceramic crown is ready, Dr. Blevins will ensure that it’s the correct size, shape, and color. He’ll then cement it to your tooth and make sure that you’re able to bite down normally with your new dental crown.
After the procedure, you’ll be able to leave our office with your new smile. The dental crown process takes so little time because we handle everything in-house. This means that we don’t rely on an off-site lab to fabricate ceramic dental crowns.
